Positive Behaviour
Positive behaviour and good manners are encouraged at all times at Cedarwood, in line with our school's ethos of Excellence and Enjoyment for All. Staff and governors are committed to achieving the very highest behaviour standards within the school community. Our policies and systems reflect the research and findings of behaviour expert, Paul Dix and are centred upon strong relational practice and inclusion.
All members of staff are trained to support positive behaviour consistently, in line with our Positive Behaviour Policy and Cedarwood Behaviour Blueprint, so that the school environment is a safe and happy place to learn and work.
Pupils are taught both explicitly and implicitly about positive behaviour and are given increasing responsibilities and leadership opportunities as they move through the school. Our school's ARK values, along with The British Vales, are woven throughout the Cedarwood curriculum and our behaviour expectations extend to pupils' actions outside of school.

Cedarwood Behaviour Blueprint
Our Blueprint captures the key aspects of our policy and practice and sets our clearly the rules and routines for all members of the school community.
Bullying
Bullying is rare at Cedarwood and it is our policy to deal with any issues on the first day. Please click here to read our Anti-bullying Policy.
When the Adults Change, Everything Changes - Paul Dix
Following two years of trialling and whole staff training we have adopted an approach to behaviour management which is developmental, inclusive, based on strong relational practice and reflects the school’s aim and ethos of Excellence and Enjoyment for All. We have recently developed our positive behaviour policy, with involvement of staff, governors, pupils and parents. It aims to move standards of behaviour from good to outstanding. The book 'When the Adults Change, Everything Changes' has shaped our thinking and in turn our practice.
After the Adults Change, Achievable Behaviour Nirvana - Paul Dix
This year, the staff team have been reading Paul Dix's latest book, 'After the Adults Change, Achievable Behaviour Nirvana.' The book includes further research-based inclusion approaches, which we are trialling in school over the academic year, and builds upon the strategies from the first book.
Hannah Hall Behaviour Specialist
This term, we are delighted to have welcomed Hannah Hall, Behaviour Specialist, to Cedarwood to deliver training on 'Achieving Behaviour Nirvana'. The whole staff team enjoyed an inspirational day of high quality training and are excited to implement new strategies to further strengthen our school's work in the area of behaviour and inclusion.
