Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs)

At Cedarwood Primary School  we are passionate about road safety.  We are a small group of children from Years 4, 5 and 6.  The aim is that when we join the team, we will stay a team member until we leave Year 6 helping to spread the news about safety on our roads.

We believe that everyone travelling to and from our school has the right to a safe journey. We meet every week and discuss what we have noticed locally and how we might be able to change the habits of those using the roads, cycle paths and footpaths near our school.

We actively encourage how to cross the road safely.

We promote that cyclists should wear helmets and bright colours to help improve their visabilty.

Our team enjoy creating posters, helping to deliver assemblies and on occasion such as during Cycle to School or Walk to School weeks, we sing a song to share good practice.

We are always willing and eager to discuss concerns about using the roads and where possible we seek advice from outside agencies such as Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Highways and Kesgrave Town Council.

Cedarwood currently holds a GOLD Award for our Junior Road Safety Officers' Work

jrso-gold-award(2)

The junior road safety team carried out a competition in the Autumn term and are about to award new cycle helmets to the winners.

Thank you to www.c6bikes.co.uk for providing the prizes.
